Spring Haul

Dear Everybody,

over the past weekends I bought quite a few new things. The approaching of spring made me want to stock up my closet and try some new things. I was never a skirt or dress loving girl, but London kind of gave me the confidence to wear and enjoy wearing them. It is the same with the colour pink. I absolutely hated it, when I was a kid. Over the years I came to realise it's actually a nice colour, but nothing I would necessarily wear myself. But seeing all the roses bloom in Regent's Park I felt inspired to at least try pink eyeshadow and I love it. It makes you look super fresh and makes for a natural look which I prefer. I think it is the perfect colour to set accents with during spring and I would highly recommend you try incorporating pink into your looks and see if it works for you.
I didn't even want to write that much so I am just going to show you all my new belongings and hope you get some inspiration.

Dress from Primark - 12 pound

Dress from New Look - 23 pound

Dungarees from Primark - 12 pound

Skirt from Primark - 8 pound

Skirt from Primark - 10 pound

Sandals from Primark - 8 pound

Sandals from Primark - 6 pound

Nailpolish from Barry M - 3 pound
Eyeshadow from Revlon - 3 pound
Rings from Brandy Melville - 4 and 5 pound

The stated prices are as I remember them, but should be about right. I also bought a lot new workout gear, because running and working out just gets even better when you wear nice clothes. Maybe I am going to show you those new pieces later.
See you!

Detective Work

Dear Everybody,

last weekend England celebrated its patron saint on St George's Day. There was a festival being held at Trafalgar Square but it wasn't as big or crowded as it was on St Patrick's Day. Still, there was a lot of traditional English food to try and free rides (aimed at children, but who cares? :D) to go on. You could also walk through an 'enchanted forest' and there was a guy dressed up as a tree giving free  hugs. And because I take what I can get, I of course hugged him.

While on Sunday thousands of people ran the London Marathon, Celine and I had a realxing day. We visited 221b Baker Street, one of the world's most famous adresses. Roaming through the floors of the old victorian house we could see how Mr Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson lived. For fans of the detective this museum definitely is a must see.
After a far too big meal at PizzaHut we went for a long walk through Regent's Park, which is so beautiful with all the colourful flowers starting to bloom. London's parks never disappoint for a lovely Sunday afternoon walk.

See you!

Culture And Fun

Dear Everybody,

last weekend was one of the first weekends I actually had a plan on what I am going to do. While Saturday was reserved for culture, Sunday was Funday.
I can now tick off another art gallery from the list of all the places I want to visit, because on Saturday my first stop was Tate Britain, where I strolled through the contemporary art section. I love modern art but have to admit it can be controversial sometimes. There were exhibits I loved and others I couldn't understand, for example a glass container full of layered rotting toast.

In the afternoon I took part in an Evensong at Westminster Abbey, mainly to get inside this phenomenal church without having to pay 20 quids. I have to say it was one of the most impressive churches I have ever seen and hearing the choir sing was brilliant. Unfortunately I was not allowed to take picture but believe me when I tell you: Westminster Abbey is worth a visit.
Afterwards I also went to Westminster Cathedral where you can go up the clocktower to have an amazing view over London. Being high up and seeing this city I love so much underneath me still amazes me and makes me feel really happy. Also the cathedral itself is truly beautiful and one of the most glittery ones I know. If you want to know what I mean by that, definitely go visit and you will understand.

On Sunday it was really warm and lovely so Celine and I decided to hire SantanderCycles and have a bike tour around London. We've been nearly everywhere. We started off through Hyde Park, Green Park and St James's Park and then had lunch on the Strand. With our tummys filled and energy restored we continued on towards Southwark Bridge where we went South until we reached the Oval. We then made our way to Battersea Park and over Albert Bridge, ending up on King's Road where we actually had to cycle on the street because there were too many shoppers. Going along Sloane Street we made our way back to Hyde Park and enjoyed waffles with ice cream. Going by bike is a great way to explore London and I would recommend it to everyone on a sunny day.

See you!

Holiday Fun

Dear Everyone,

today I started working again after one week of holidays. It was lovely having last week off and I spent my time well, travelling around England visiting four cities. It was great to get to know other places than London although nothing compares to it.

Monday: Leeds

Leeds is the perfect city for any shopaholic. The city centre is mainly occupied by shopping centres offering every retailer you could possibly want. For all the culture lovers there's plenty to see as well: The Cathedral, Town Hall, Library and Old Post Office are just example. One of my favourite places were the Mandela Gardens, the perfect place to relax after exploring the city.

Tuesday: Manchester

When most people hear Manchester they probably think of football. But it has so much more to offer. Yes, there is the National Football Museum (which we did not visit) but even more impressing than that is Manchester Cathedral, one of the most beautiful buildings I've seen so far. If you are a fan of nights out The Printworks and The Corn Exchange are a must for you. They are stuffed with bars and restaurants and we actually spent our evening there going to the cinema and having a drink afterwards.

Wednesday: Liverpool

Liverpool was my favourite city out of all the ones I visited on this trip. That's probably because it is on the sea and I just love being at the seaside. For every Beatles fan there's the Beatles Museum to visit. It is on Albert Dock which is perfect for going on a walk, having a nice meal and maybe taking a ride on the Wheel of Liverpool.

Thursday: Birmingham

This city is one for people loving old being mixed with new. The city centre impresses with modern buildings like The Cube, New Street Station or the Library, but then you also have the Cathedral and St Martin in the Bull Ring, a moss and ivy covered church. If you head down to the canal you find a lovely and quite place to walk, which I absolutely enjoyed.

By Friday I was back home in London, my favourite city of all times. There will be another post on Friday about my weekend, which was actually quite productive this time so stay tuned.
See you!

Time Travelling

Dear Everybody,

this post is pre written. By the time it goes online I'll be walking through Manchester. I can't wait to explore more English cities, but for now I want to write about how I spent my weekend.
On Saturday I went on a big shopping splurge, something I haven't done since I came to London seven months ago. I bought lots of small things here and there but never treated myself to a full on shopping trip. I went to Tottenham Court Road and Soho, one of my favourite places to shop in London. Especially the streets and lanes around Carnaby Street and Liberty are great. I would always advise going there, if you want to go shopping in London.
On Sunday Celine and I decided to visit Highgate Cemetry. I was astonished that a cemetry could be so beautiful. It was build during the Victorian times and hold incredible architecture. I loved the Egyptian Avenue and all the magnificent tombstones. The cemetry has its very own atmosphere, making you feel like you went back in time or you're strolling though an enchanted forest. Trees growing wildly and the sunlight shining through them only support this feeling and make a visit an unforgettable experience

See you!

The Simple One

Dear Everybody,

as you might know by now my style is pretty simple. I like basics in neutral colours like black, white or grey. So when suede became more and more popular I fell in love. I was on the hunt for a nice suede jacket for a long time and then finally found one while shopping in Camden. Since then I also bought a suede skirt I can't wait to wear when it gets warmer.
This outfit really is just a black-skinny-and-white-tee look, but with the jacket it gets more interesting instantly. I can't wait to wear it more often now and I feel like suede is a trend that is going to be around for much longer, thanks to its timeless look.

Enjoy The Sun

Dear Everybody,

I had the nicest spring weekend one could have. London has been spoiled with sunshine and warmth the past few days. It instantly makes me feel so much more positive and happy.
We made most of the beautiful weather by spending Saturday in Green Park. We were there in time to at least watch the end of Changing of the Guards and then we basically spent two hours sunbathing and watching people having a pillow fight because of International Pillowfight Day. Afterwards we walked to Trafalgar Square to see the huge Monopoly board that's been there for London Games Festival. We had to go back quite early, because that night we sang with our choir at our spring concert. It was great fun and we had the chance of seeing two other brilliant choirs perform as well.

On Sunday we went shopping on Spitalfields Market and then had Afternoon Tea at Patisserie Valerie. I have to say Afternoon Tea is now one of my new favourite "meals" and I definitely have to go out and have it again (and again). It was still nice and warm in the evening so we walked down to the Thames and sat down at the riverbank. We had a great view over St Paul's and could listen to a singer nearby. It's just great that the sun stays up longer again and we can make the most of our days.

Since yesterday I have to look after J all day because school holidays started. But next week I am off to travel around England a bit more. Stay tuned for that.
See you!

London Calling

Dear Everybody,

I am back with another outfit post. Since I moved to London I've become more adventurous and brave with my style. I never was the kind of girl who liked dresses and skirts, but recently I found myself looking at them thinking: I could wear that, I could make it work. So I already purchased some items, one of them being the nice jeans dress you see today. It is from New Look and I instantly fell in love with it and wore it out last weekend when my family was here. I hope you like how I styled it and can get some inspiration.

See you!
