Dear Everyone,
my first week back in London is over. I was feeling a bit down the last days a) because I was missing home and b) because I had, and still have, a cold. But that didn't keep me from going out on the weekend. But the weather was grey and rainy. That's why I went to visit the Sir John Soane's Museum on Saturday. Unfortunatly you weren't allowed to take pictures in there, but let me tell you, Mr Soane loved collecting old things. His house was stuffed with ancient parts of Greek temples, paintings and his sketches he drew working as an architect. The most breathtaking object from his collection must be a sarcophagus from ancient Egypt. It's engraved with hieroglyphics, explaining how to get to the underworld.
As it was still drizzling when Celine, who was with me, and I finished our visit at the Museum we sat down to have a nice Hot Chocolate-Break. After that we made our way to Covent Garden to watch performers in the evening. If you are ever looking for good entertainment: Go there! We laughed a lot that day.
On Sunday the weather was finally better so we went for a nice and long walk through Marylebone and Regent's Park. We walked pass the Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker Street, but neither the detective nor his friend Dr Watson were anywhere to be seen. We also walked all the way to Abbey Road just to feel weird taking pictures of what looks like an ordinary zebra crossing. But we all know it isn't, because it's THE one The Beatles crossed years ago. The only problem is, it's still on a normal road and most car drivers don't care for tourists who want to take pictures there.
