Market Shopping

Dear Everyone,

it's time to talk a little bit about what I've been up to last weekend. As I had to babysit Saturday night, we spent the day in Camden. It's a great place, if you're looking for something special and different. Camden is the heart of London's punk and goth culture, but you can find so much more clothes and accessories for all different styles.
On Sunday we went to Spitalfields Market. It is by far one of my favourite Markets in London. The huge Market Hall always seems to be flooded with light. There are lovely little independent shops around and the stalls sell pretty much everything you can ever dream of. The best part about it is definitely the food. I had a delicious Paella and afterwards we stuffed ourselves with Mini Brownies and Cinnamon Rolls. We finished our day by having a nice long walk along the Thames and of course, watching some street performers in the evening.

Changes / Lumiere Festival London 2016

Dear Everybody,

I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in so long. I still couldn't fix the problem with uploading pictures. Therefore I decided to continue this blog just in words. If you would like to see pictures of my adventures, check out my Instagram 'it_is_rosalie'.
Last weekend London hosted the Lumiere Festival. For four nights you could marvel at breathtaking light installations all over the city. I'm going to start posting pictures of them on Instagram soon. I'll write about this weekend tomorrow.

See you!

Rainy Weather

Dear Everyone,

my first week back in London is over. I was feeling a bit down the last days a) because I was missing home and b) because I had, and still have, a cold. But that didn't keep me from going out on the weekend. But the weather was grey and rainy. That's why I went to visit the Sir John Soane's Museum on Saturday. Unfortunatly you weren't allowed to take pictures in there, but let me tell you, Mr Soane loved collecting old things. His house was stuffed with ancient parts of Greek temples, paintings and his sketches he drew working as an architect. The most breathtaking object from his collection must be a sarcophagus from ancient Egypt. It's engraved with hieroglyphics, explaining how to get to the underworld.
As it was still drizzling when Celine, who was with me, and I finished our visit at the Museum we sat down to have a nice Hot Chocolate-Break. After that we made our way to Covent Garden to watch performers in the evening. If you are ever looking for good entertainment: Go there! We laughed a lot that day.
On Sunday the weather was finally better so we went for a nice and long walk through Marylebone and Regent's Park. We walked pass the Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker Street, but neither the detective nor his friend Dr Watson were anywhere to be seen. We also walked all the way to Abbey Road just to feel weird taking pictures of what looks like an ordinary zebra crossing. But we all know it isn't, because it's THE one The Beatles crossed years ago. The only problem is, it's still on a normal road and most car drivers don't care for tourists who want to take pictures there.

See you!

Happy New Year

Dear Everybody,

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while. I was just enjoying the time I was back home for Christmas and wanted to make the most out of it with my friends and family. But on New Year's Day I had to go back to London. Saying 'good-bye' was harder this time, because I now realised, that nothing can ever substitute home.
For now I want to wish you all an amazing 2016. I hope you'll have a great year with lots of happy memories to look back on in the end. For me 2016 has a lot in store. I'll be living  in London til August, then going back to study in Germany, which means I'll probably be living on my own. I can't wait for all of this to happen and try to think positive. I hope you do the same.
I already spent another great weekend in rainy London, visiting the British Library and the Science Museum aswell as being entertained by performers in Covent Garden and encountering some weird guy, who was pressing his nose against the window of the coffeeshop we enjoyed our Hot Chocolate in. Love London and its people. :D
I hope you're all well.
See you!
